HK ART AGENCY:
HK
is a new born artistic agency, based in the heart of Paris city, France, working hand to hand with the movie production firm HK corp (http://www.hkcorp.fr).

Contemporary art is the core of our artistic deeper motives. HK art Agency was born from the shared desire of its members to grow and promote the works of up and coming artists. The choice we made regarding those artists are based on a real crush we had on them, and on their professionalism and the passion that drives them.

With their own personal and sincere vision, HK’s artists are both witnesses and makers of our constantly bustling and changing world. Through their work, they accurately comprehend our time. They travel through our evolving society, mixing traditionnal techniques with new materials, in order to portray the environment we live in, an environment which happens to be both magic and grimy, sensual and disturbing, and where the “spleen” goes along with desire and fullness.

About Photography

For about three decades, the photography practice has come close to plastic arts circles, so close as to become one of the fields where the most relevant artistic problematics are tackled, regards to our times.

Contemporary photography practice is thus marked by three major trends: the one in which documents alternate or sublime reality, the one in which the narrative process comes close to movie-making, and at last the pictorial tradition in which pictures look like paintings.

BERZERKER

(clicking the image for more details…)
The spleen and the ideal:

Ben Berzerker is a very talented photographer & film director. He pays particular attentioin to looks and stares, and to the attitudes of the people whose emotions he captures. His work is essentially based on feminity, and on the paradox of the situations and interpretations that can be made from his photographs. In Berzerkers universe, the spleen is taken over by melancholy and decadence.
CHRIS CAROLINA

(clicking the image for more details…)
Painter and fashion photographer:

His work is a mix of type and style, between abstract and figurative art. In search of purity, love and sincerity, he puts the Woman in the middle of his cognition, in the center of his creations and in his motivation. It results from it a living painting, esthetic and harmonious, fruit of an exuberant passion.
ERIC CANTO

live photographer

Eric Canto is a freelance Photographer:
His portofolio is ranging from live photography, artist shots to magazine portraits and cd covers. He is influenced both by big names in photography ( Avedon, Lachapelle, Ward, Lindberg) and by the cinematographic approach of pictures. Last photography: Metallica, Tricky, the Prodigy, Oasis, Marilyn Manson, Lenny Kravitz, Massive Attack, Radiohead,… Last covers: Mass Hysteria, Bukowski

dark ink & digital

Eric Lacombe, painter and graphic designer, carries us into his world between phantasmagoria and thaumaturgy. Tortured characters, disfigured faces sometimes without mouths, try to deliver us a message by yelling from the inside: our turn to fathom it out according to our imagination. Some perfect curves delicately made, like a snapshot clear and precise of our worst nightmares. Those characters bring us to the very depths of the existential unease. And that’s exactly this unease that carries our reflection, that makes us want to know more, to get closer of his world both loomy and deeply moving, magic and terrifying.
MARK MAGGIORI

(clicking the image for more details…)
A multi-disciplinarian artist:

Photographer, painter, writer and screenwriter with a unique and recognizable style, he will bring you deep into his universe both realistic and dreamly. Deeply inspired by the subcultures, and attracted to social minorities and the notion of « community », he leads his artistic stand towards themes often linked to some form of marginalization, a marginalization which he persists to sublimate, giving these unconventional people a rough beauty.
NICOLAS DEMARS

(clicking the image for more details…)
URBEX artist photographer:

Loneliness, isolation : Nicolas Demars lets himself go in these forbidden places, where time alone was able to get over man. He likes wandering into these old theatres of life, work and worship, belonging to the past. His artwork takes life through these post-industrial landscapes, these deserted dwellings, as a witness on the fringe of our ever-changing society.
PASCAL PICHON

(clicking the image for more details…)
Visceral painter:

In his “family portrait style” drawings, Pascal Pichon reveals himself unblushingly before our eyes. He allows us to plunge into his private life, into his childhood memories, where everyone can easily recognize oneself. With strokes of brushes and pencils, he succeeds in making us feel laugh to tears, tenderness to disgust. A succession of different moods that we see passing through his works, through his inspiration. An incision in the soul of a forbidden past in a memory box, which we remember again in the painting form.
SIMON LAVEUVE

(clicking the image for more details…)
Artist photographer:

Although Simon Laveuve aka « streetsking » is still young, his work already shows a lot of maturity. A very productive and gifted artist, he’s a photographer as instinctive as rigorous in his settings. His sense of detail and the most peculiar attention he displays to his characters, in their environment, make his photos disturbing but emotional pieces of art. Using the white and black, his passion for silver film redefine a new dimension to the urban and contemparory photography. A fresh and biting vision, real sound track of a suburbian youth looking for recognition and sincerity through picture aestheticism.

HK ART AGENCY

“DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH” par MARK MAGGIORI exposition...

“DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH” par MARK MAGGIORI
exposition photographies/peintures

du 03 au 08 décembre 2011
GALERIE OBERKAMPF
103 Rue Saint-Maur
75011 Paris, France

Vernissage:
Samedi 03 décembre
A partir de 18h jusque 00h

mrwankerman:

John Martin: Apocalypse exhibition at the Tate Britain

Visionary, eccentric, populist and epic, John Martin was a controversial but key figure in nineteenth century art. Like his canvases, this wildly dramatic artist with his visions of heaven and hell, was larger than life.

Organised in partnership with the Laing gallery, Newcastle, this is the first major exhibition dedicated to Martin’s work in over 30 years. It brings together his most famous paintings of apocalyptic destruction and biblical disaster from collections around the world, as well as previously unseen and newly-restored works.

Hugely popular in his time, Martin was derided by the Victorian Art establishment as a ‘people’s painter’, for although he excited mass audiences with his astounding scenes of judgement and damnation, to critics it was distasteful. In a sense ahead of this time, his paintings - full of rugged landscapes and grandiose theatrical spectacle - have an enduring influence on today’s cinematic and digital fantasy landscapes.

This exhibition presents a spectacular vision, capturing the full drama and impact of John Martin’s paintings as they were originally displayed. Just as in the nineteenth century, these epic and often astounding works must be seen to be believed.

Part of the Great British Art Debate, supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.

I remember the first time I went to the Tate Britain (way before this exhibition) and saw one of John Martin’s paintings hidden high up on a wall under bad lighting and became totally entranced by it. His stuff is scary, enthralling and unutterably compelling. If you get the chance, go and see this exhibition! Prices aren’t cheap, but they’re quite good for this - it’s worth it.
